As I said in the video, one of the requirements of my internship course it to present my summer internship experience to other animal behavior students. I made this video as a way to practice what I would say to them. I started by creating a very minimalistic slideshow. I wanted my audience to be actively listening to me, and not too focused on all the words on the slides. However, I do think an in person presentation is better for this material, because I believe the students would better see how much I care about what I am presenting.
For this project, I used Google Slides, and then a program called screecast-o-matic to record my computer screen as a narrated over it. I really like this style of project, because I prefer not to be on screen when I am speaking. I find myself a lot more at ease when I can just say what I know, and don’t have to think about my presentation. The only problem I have with the screen recording program is it is free but with fine print. For example, it is free to record, but only up to fifteen minutes. For this project, that was not a problem for me, but I could see it being a problem for someone with a longer project or presentation. I do like how it allows you to save the project as a file, or upload directly to YouTube, similarly to how iMovie works.
