For my second project towards the multimodal badge, I chose to repurpose an assignment I worked on. Over the course of the summer, I wrote twenty journals about my time at my internship. For this project, I condensed them into a brief reflection, and then used that reflection to create a podcast. Initially, I was going to stop there, but I ran into some issues. My podcast was too big of a file to upload here on ePortfolio. So, I decided to put my audio into iMovie, and add some photos from my internship to create a “almost movie”. From there I uploaded it to Youtube, and linked the video on my ePortfolio page designated to the project.
When creating this project, I didn’t really have a set audience. I feel the material might be interesting to other individuals interested in wildlife rehabilitation. Most likely, I think only my peers will see it. My original journals were only intended for my professor, but I thought that my experience was so amazing, that I could turn it into something more. The original journals can be access through my summer internship dropdown option on my menu.
I’m really proud of how my project turned out. I was at first apprehensive about trying to jam at least thirty pages of notes into a reflection, but it was easier than I expected. I also liked seeing the difference between me typing a reflection, and me reading the reflection as a podcast. When creating the podcast, I found myself having more to say and remembering more things. Of course, this was a bit of a problem, because I did ramble on a few times and had to stop and go back to edit the podcast. However, I did prefer the podcast aspect of this project to the written portion.
